Blocker for Short Videos on Mobile to Avoid Falling into Time Black Holes

Viewed 1042

I use a lot of social media Apps and each has its own purpose. For example I use

YouTube: for watching videos (not shorts) of various content, musical videos, etc., and at the same time they have youtube shorts
Instagram: To check updates from the people whom I follow their stories and posts, and at the same time they have reels
SnapChat: To check snaps from my friends to know updates about their lives. They have Spotlight
Facebook: I go especially for the Marketplace & they also do have Reels

All the time when I open these apps for my purpose, they always redirect to Reels either through the feed or by the notification icon (raising anxiety about what's new) and forcefully land me in their time black hole

I have tried digital well-being apps which are app time limiters but the problem with those is that it's either use the entire app or don't use the app.

Today's well being apps work great (like App Time of iOS) for games but not for social media apps, which also serve some good functionality the reason why they become famous at first place.

I am looking for a solution where I can only block these short videos and use the rest of the app's functionality like how today's Ad blocker work.

As to the solution of the problem, I suggest you have stronger will.

Ideal solution is VPN solving this problem. But none of them do it today.

The workaround is running proxy server mitmproxy on your laptop / PC, which lets you add custom rules in python add-on and route your mobile traffic through your laptop through this.

Mode is regular proxy: https://docs.mitmproxy.org/stable/concepts-modes/#regular-proxy
